Dog surrendered to Rescue because: Other
Other Reason: She has become more aggressive lately, trying to snap at other family members and visitors to the house. There are small children in the house and we have concerns about possibility of her biting. She gets along very well with one of our dogs, but is aggressive towards the other one. She doesn’t seem to care for strange dogs and she has fear of strangers.
Good With:
Dog Likes: water, retrieving, car rides;
Working Ability: unknown
Working Comments: Dog was gotten to help with alerting to blood sugar changes in owner (owner is diabetic). She is very good motivated and loves the water and to fetch/retrieve.
Behavioral Problems: digging, chewing furniture/other items, chasing/nipping, separation anxiety, other problems
Other Behavioral Problems: Snapping - we’ve been having problems with the dog snapping lately. She is very attached to me and listens very well but seems to be very strongly bonded to me and not as much to other family members. There is a concern she may bite others.
Bitten? No
Bite Explanation:
Commands known: Sit, Stay, Down, Come, Bathroom
Tricks: Leave it, Drop it, Bring it. Dog was in training to help alert owner of blood sugar changes (owner is diabetic).
Other Info: She’s very trainable but I think she would do better in a household without children or where the primary owner/handler can be with her more. I think the behavioral problems could be worked through just needs to have someone with the time.
