Dog surrendered to Rescue because: Housing concerns
Other Reason: We had her until my husbands job moved us to a new city and from a farm to an apartment than she lived with my grandmother for about a year or so. My grandmothers health is declining and so we are having to move her o a new place closer to our apartment and therefor need to rehome the dog. She was housebroke when we had her but has been outside for the past year and may need refreshed.

Other Info: We got this dog from a breeder and you can look at her and see she has had a number of litters I have nothing against responsible breeders but the impression I got was this was more of a puppy mill breeding her every heat back to back and not taking care of her very well at all. The first week or two we had her she hid in the very back of our closet and it took us several months to teach her to play. Now she is full of energy and loves to run around play with tennis balls and is friendly to everyone and doesn't hide. She does sometimes have an attitude towards smaller dogs until she gets to know them (her paws have many scars and I almost think the prior owner who mostly bred little dogs let these little dogs gang up on her). She also is possessive of her food dish to other dogs, never has shown food agression towards people, and I've even found her sleeping on her food dish when my other dogs were around. Again I think this is due to her past. We would be keeping her if we had the space but just cannot and I'm not willing to turn her over to the pound just to be put down with no chance. She has been around other dogs and does fine other than having to get to know the little ones first, she was also living with a cat when we had her and played with the neighborhood kids when she was with my grandmother. She deserves a good home and is a fat and happy girl now (a bit too fat after being spayed!) and I don't want her having to be locked down in a shelter or somewhere after seemingly already loseing so much of her life to being stuck in a cage.
