Tricks: He know "high five" and will speak on command. One smart guy, absolutely loves his toys, will play and entertain himself, tossing his own ball and chasing bugs, this guy can't be 9 but that's what we've been told.
Other Info: Charlie is a wonderfully sweet dog and probably the youngest looking and healthiest 9 year old we've ever seen. He is a mix - with what we have no clue. But he is a great family dog - so easy going about everything. He loves kids and people in general, he is house trained but his favorite place to sleep is in your bed. Just a great dog!! See more pictures of Charlie on our Facebook page at North Central Chesapeake Bay Retriever Relief & Rescue. APRIL 22 UPDATE FROM CHARLIE'S FOSTER MOM (who is also a senior): Just a quick update on Charlie. He is a fantastic dog. He is really getting used to us. He was very difficult to walk as he is so strong and pulled horribly and so I went to Petco last night and I got an "easy walk" harness for him and its really does the trick. It puts pressure on his chest and he walked right beside me like a gentle man. He is eating and drinking well. He is getting very protective of my house and me. He really fell in love with my daughter and she fell in love with him. However she doesn't have a fenced yard and he definitely needs that. He loves to be outside and play with toys. He has destroyed every tennis ball in the house. I'm going to buy a bag of Wilson balls they are the hardest to destroy. He was very good with my 4 year old grandson. but on a walk the other day he barked at a little guy on a bike and that alarmed me a little. He is a talker. He will come up to me and literally talk to me when he needs to go out. I'm out gardening a lot now and he loves being out in the sun basking. He loves having the girls (lab and chessie/lab mix) in the yard with him even though he pays little attention to them. He brought me a gift yesterday morning...he caught a mouse and I freaked out. Good ole Charlie found one alive and brought his "mama" a gift and put it on my bed.  Life with Charlie is interesting to say the least. He is just a cuddle bug when he sleeps with me every night. when he does something naughty he takes himself to his kennel and waits for me to say come out. He is very smart, he can high five, stay, down, speak when asked, and loves to get lots of attention. He is very kind and sweet and very strong. He does not like sirens and I'm going to be curious about thunderstorms. Who ever gets him is going to be very lucky as he is just a very loving and sweet guy.
