Other Info: 5/30/18 UPDATE: Liberty is on her way to foster in California with a foster home that specializes in special needs dogs. Please watch this listing for updates as Liberty's new foster gets to know her. Liberty is a sweet 14 month old Chessie mix -possibly a chessie/poodle mix, considering her hair is so curly and soft. She is still a puppy but learning nice dog behavior such as sitting and not using her body to get what she wants. She is a snuggler and a pleaser, sleeps very well and doesn't get into trouble when left uncrated on her own. Liberty does need lots of puppy training including finishing touches on potty training. She will need patience and time and those interested in pursuing the best way to train a deaf dog. Liberty cannot hear but that does not slow her down. She loves to play with balls and drops very well, just not right at your feet. She does expect you to come get it and throw it again. Liberty is obsessed with water like most chessie's and drags the hose around the yard when given the chance. She is fantastic with people and children but needs lots of training time before being around elderly are very small children because she uses her 80lb body. She is good with other dogs but needs adjustment time like most dog introductions. She is not quite the dominant dog but not passive either. We suspect she would chase cats and small animals. Liberty is a true sweetheart. We will require an adopter who will focus on her special needs and plenty of training time.
