Other Info: Teddi is a beautiful 3 ½ year old Chessie. Teddi had 4 homes in 4 months, which has made him a bit anxious. It took him about 5 weeks to settle into his foster household, so his new family will need to give him lots of time to acclimate. His anxiety tends to make him over-bond with one person, and his new family will need to work on building his confidence. Because commotion increases his anxiety, a quiet household would be best for him. Teddi is very protective of his Foster Mom, his house, and yard. All guests are required to enter with treats for Teddi, and this has helped him understand that guests are fun, not threats. He is getting better about having strangers in the house but must be on lead or in his crate until he has more confidence. He has excellent house manners and is completely housetrained. He enjoys chew toys and does not chew anything he is not supposed to (furniture, shoes, beds). He will explore the kitchen trash can if he is bored and it is left out without a secure lid. Teddi has excellent leash manners and loves to go for walks. He loves to play, and often amuses himself with his toys. He can be rambunctious and a little mouthy when he plays, so would be best with older children. Teddi would prefer to be the only dog in the home, but he is well behaved on leash when meeting other dogs and is easily redirected with treats when reactive dogs approach him. Teddi loves car rides and is a perfect gentleman at our local pet friendly stores. Teddi knows a few commands but is still learning to ‘stay’ and to come when distracted. We are working on crate training. Teddi does not seem to have an excessive prey drive, as he is only interested in chasing rabbits. He ignores birds, squirrels, deer and geese. Teddi has made significant progress in his foster home and is eager to learn and to please. We are confident that he has lots of untapped potential.
