Working Ability:
Working Comments: This dog has the highest prey drive of any dog I have ever met - and I don't say that lightly! He is fine on leash until he sees a bird or a rabbit or just about anything moving and then you had best have good control of him or he'd be gone. He will absolutely NOT be adopted to a home with cats or chickens. As long as there is not something in his view that he thinks he should chase - he is excellent on leash. He also has a good retrieve drive so could probably be taught that hunting game pretty easily. And the fireworks and thunder haven't phased him so if properly introduced to the gun, he would likely do just fine.
Behavioral Problems:
Other Behavioral Problems: Colt has really advanced. He has really learned his indoor manners and is a super good boy.
Bitten? No
Bite Explanation:
Commands known:
  • Sit
  • Come
Tricks: Colt is very toy driven. He needs some good, solid obedience lessons. He is just an exuberant pup.
Other Info: July 8 Update: Colt is now in foster in Yankton SD and is doing wonderful in his new foster home! He thinks that his new foster mom and dad are great and they have more time to work with him. Colt is a very happy and handsome guy! He is doing very well in foster care - but still just getting settled in. He plays well with other dogs - and is really doing well with the resident senior boy. If you have the time to put into this pup, he is going to be an amazingly great dog! He loves human attention and the more he can get, the better behaved he is. Obviously, we are looking for a home that will give him the exercise and training that he needs to succeed! Colt is exceptional in the crate - very quiet and good. He is not bad with kids - I would just say he is a big puppy and may unintentionally knock down a toddler if unsupervised.
