To Our Adopters, Supporters and Fellow Chessie Lovers,
The current COVID-19 pandemic is disrupting our lives and complicating rescue activities. During this time, interested parties may still submit online applications to adopt, to foster, and to become a member, but social distancing and stay-at-home orders may limit the ability of our volunteers to execute our normal application and adoption processes. For example, we have suspended our traditional in-home visits until further notice. Some regions may be in a position and feel comfortable to perform certain functions remotely, but this will be dependent on the bandwidth and location of the volunteer/members in your area and local restrictions.
Meanwhile, many of the shelters that we work with are not receiving dogs. Some animal shelters with dogs are not releasing them to the public or rescue groups. As such, the number of dogs available may be more limited than usual. For people seeking to SURRENDER a dog, we are still accepting surrender dog request forms and will respond quickly and assist as we are able.
We want to do everything we can to keep our volunteers, applicants and dogs in our rescue program safe. You may experience a delay in response time from our volunteers. Please continue to reach out to the volunteer members in your region if you have not received a response to an inquiry. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate these challenging times.
