Code of Conduct for Volunteers - eSignature

This Code of Conduct establishes the principles and expectations for professional conduct and ethical behavior for all volunteers of the Chesapeake Bay Retriever Relief and Rescue, Incorporated, hereafter referred to as “The Rescue.” By adhering to this Code, we foster a positive, inclusive and respectful work environment that aligns with our core values and organizational objectives.

Scope and Applicability

This code applies to all volunteers of the Rescue, regardless of their position or location. Contractors and temporary staff are expected to adhere to this Code when working on behalf of the Rescue. Volunteers pledge adherence to the Articles of Incorporation, Bylaws, Policies and Procedures of the Rescue.

Core values and Principles

  • To treat all living things as we wish to be treated.
  • To demonstrate compassion and respect for all living creatures.
  • To judge our effectiveness by the extent to which animal lives are saved and improved, and by the positive experience of the people we touch.
  • To lead by example, developing, promoting and sharing great new ideas and programs to help animals.
  • To do what we say we do.
  • To be open and honest in our relationships.

Professionalism

Volunteers are expected to conduct themselves with professionalism at all times.  This includes reliability and commitment to high-quality work. Always remember to work collaboratively with other volunteers. Always present a positive demeanor when interacting with others.

Respect and Inclusion

We value diversity and are committed to fostering an environment where all volunteers feel valued and respected. Always treat other volunteers with respect and kindness. Harassment, discrimination or any form of bullying will not be tolerated.

Integrity and Ethics

Volunteers must act with integrity and uphold the highest ethical standards in all professional interactions.  This includes avoiding conflicts of interest and acting in the best interest of the Rescue at all times.
