You helped us save Inga and Quin
WE DID IT!! We raised enough money to cover Quinn's and Inga's emergency medical and other expenses. Thank you to all who donated and shared!. No donation is ever too small to make a difference in the lives of our rescue dogs.
In case you missed their story, CBRR&R recently rescued these two malnourished, heartworm positive Chessie mixes from the San Antonio, Texas, city shelter at the last possible moment.
We saw the pleas for help on the San Antonio Pets Alive (SAPA) Facebook page. SAPA is an organization created to help save the lives of the dogs on the euthanasia list at the city shelter by sharing their photos and stories as much as possible. CBRR&R volunteers worked hard to secure and deploy resources to save both dogs. Both dogs have made amazing progress in just a few short weeks.
Here are updates from their foster families:
"Inga was extremely sad and shut down when she came into rescue. We think she may have been on her own for some time and recently gave birth in the wild. We do not know what happened to her puppies. She is slowly starting to trust her new foster mom, and her tail is starting to wag. She gets along well with the resident dogs. Her appetite is good and she has been treated for mange. She will soon be ready to start heartworm treatment." -Becky S., Eddy, Texas
"My heart broke when I first saw Quinn...so very skinny. He's still a little shy at times but has adjusted nicely to the other resident dogs, Molly and Blair. We often catch them sleeping on the couch together. Quinn knows the sound of the cookie jar and will come running from where he is in the house when he hears it. He's just a love and steadily gaining weight." - Andre H., Rogers, Arkansas

Red Fundraiser and Surgery Thank You
Thanks to your support and quick action, we successfully raised more than enough money to cover the cost of Red’s surgery in April. Thankfully, no teeth were removed. The lipoma removal proved more difficult and Red was in surgery for over 3 ½ hours.
Red has since completely recovered from surgery and is doing great. He has settled down nicely and enjoys daily walks with his 12 year old “sister,” Dixie, and follows his 2-legged mom around all the time. The early behavioral problems -- pulling, fearfulness of people in general -- are gone. He's a lovable, goofy guy who can't wait to play fetch or tug of war with his rope. Red was officially adopted by his foster mom. She give him a new name to go with his new lease on life.
Chessie Blend Coffee
Our friends at Bird Dog Coffee have just released a Chessie Blend coffee!
From the Bird dog site; "Ethiopia Yirgacheffe is one of the most sought out coffees by coffee drinkers around the world. Ethiopia coffees are some of the most desirable coffees
because of the incredible balance between acidity and body. This coffee offers a nice bright lemon sweetness with a medium body that finishes with chocolate and tea like
notes as the coffee cools".
Bird Dog Coffee will make a 10% donation to Chessie rescue for every bag of Chessie Blend purchased through the website
